Greg Sharpe, known as the “Voice of the Huskers”, announced his cancer diagnosis on Sports Nightly Monday.
“Bottom line is I have been diagnosed with cancer,” Sharpe said. “Found out a week or two ago so we’re getting to the point where treatment will be necessary and so its gonna disrupt my work here on Sports Nightly and probably some baseball broadcasts.”
Sharpe has been with Nebraska Athletics and the Huskers Radio Network since 2008. He reiterated during the message his support system.
“My wife Amy has been a rock for the last month for me,” Sharpe said. “I’m so blessed to have someone like her in my life. And I’m sure those of you that have dealt with this know that you gotta have that support system to kind of fight your way through.”
Sharpe also emphasized his faith.
“I’ve got a great relationship with God,” Sharpe said. “God, He’s been with me a lot in the last couple of weeks, months. Heck, He’s with me right now to make sure I can get through this.
“And I’m gonna work that relationship hard in the coming weeks.”
