Three-time All-American and four-time Olympian Jordan Larson has stepped away from the Nebraska volleyball coaching staff, head coach John Cook announced in a statement yesterday. Larson was juggling duties as a Husker assistant coach with her continued professional and international volleyball career. Larson is currently playing for LOVB Omaha, in its inaugural season.
Larson starred for Nebraska from 2005 to 2008. In addition to three All-America honors, Larson helped the Huskers win the 2006 national championship and a national runner-up finish in 2005. Larson joined the U.S. National Team immediately after her Husker career in 2009. Larson has earned two silver medals and a bronze, and in the 2020 Olympics, she helped the U.S. earn its first-ever indoor volleyball gold medal.
In a statement, head coach John Cook said, “Following the season, Jordan Larson informed me that she has decided to move on from being part of our coaching staff. While I am disappointed we won’t have her on staff anymore, I am thankful to Jordan for all that she has done for our program over these past two seasons, helping us go 66-5 with trips to the NCAA Final and NCAA Semifinals. It wasn’t easy for her while balancing the Olympics and a professional playing career at the same time, but she gave everything she had to our players and to the Nebraska volleyball program and she will be missed. It has been fun watching Jordan begin her LOVB Omaha career and we hope she has a great season.”
